Websites & web applications

Websites that introduce you. Web apps that do the work.

We build business websites and web applications around what visitors need to understand and what users need to do. Design, responsive interfaces, backend features and administration are planned around those tasks.

Choose the web experience

What should people be able to do?

A public website and a logged-in application serve different tasks. Use the task to choose the content, interactions and management tools.

Introduce the business

Visitor's task
Understand your offer and make an enquiry.
What the product needs
Clear service pages, useful content, responsive layouts and an appropriate way to keep information current.

Buy or book

Visitor's task
Choose a product, service or available time.
What the product needs
A catalogue or service flow, pricing and availability, with the required order or booking management.

Work inside a portal

Visitor's task
Sign in to view information or complete a task.
What the product needs
Accounts, role-based access, business rules and the data or integrations behind the interface.

Development scope

What the work can include.

Content and interface design.

Information structure, user flows and layouts for desktop and mobile.

Frontend development.

Responsive pages, navigation and the forms or application interactions the product requires.

Backend and administration.

Accounts, permissions, content tools and business logic where included.

Commerce and integrations.

Product data, payments, bookings or connections to external services.

Testing, deployment and improvement.

Cross-screen testing, agreed metadata and indexing setup, deployment preparation and changes to an existing website or application.

Deliverables & handover

A web product with a clear operating plan.

The agreed scope defines what will be built and what your team needs to manage. A public website, a specific frontend or a complete web application can each be a standalone project.

Interface and functionality.

Designs, agreed pages or application features, and their source code.

Management and connections.

Content tools, administration, backend services or integrations where included.

Deployment and handover.

Deployment configuration, access arrangements and documentation for the agreed operating tasks.

Technical approach

React and Next.js, chosen around the requirements.

React and Next.js are our main web technologies. Content, application behaviour, integrations, editing needs and deployment arrangements determine the implementation. Existing products are reviewed before deciding whether to extend them or change their technology.

Practical questions

Content, frontend work & existing websites

Can our team update the content?

Content management or administration tools can be included. We first identify what your team needs to edit and how the content should be reviewed and published.

Can you develop only the frontend?

Yes. We can work with an existing backend or an API supplied by another team, subject to reviewing its interfaces, access and integration requirements.

Can you improve our current website instead of replacing it?

Yes, where the current product is a suitable fit. We review its code, platform and goals before proposing focused improvements, a staged rebuild or a new implementation.
